ABOUT US

For families seeking a preschool that offers a blend of modern teaching techniques, a community-oriented environment, and a Christian-based philosophy, Rainbow Room Preschool is the perfect combination of all of these offerings – providing children and their parents an educational experience unlike any in the area.

With its focus on encouraging parental involvement, Rainbow Room Preschool frequently invites family members to the school for a number of activities. In the past, the school has welcomed parents for story telling, holiday parties, crafts and special skills – which has included yoga teachers, firemen – and even a professional chef!

"You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!"

- Dr. Seuss

3 YEAR OLD PROGRAM

The Rainbow Room Preschool offers a three-year old class, where the teachers use theme-based learning for their curriculum. With this approach, the teachers can provide an integrated approach to teaching and learning, and the themes (which can range from animals to outer space), allow the students to learn about these topics through fun activities.

The children are further prepared with the school’s concentration on personal, physical and educational development. Their emotional and social development are supported by the loving staff at Rainbow Room Preschool. Sharing, self-confidence, independence, and cooperation with children and adults are emphasized. Large muscle coordination is developed through games and musical expression. Through activities such as cutting, pegboards and stringing beads, students are able to develop small muscle coordination.

4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM

Rainbow Room Preschool recently introduced an innovative approach to learning. The school utilizes center-based learning centers, a technique that enables children to learn by teaming up with their classmates, participating in hands-on activities, and exploring the activities independently. Students are able to learn through a multi-sensory experience – utilizing sights, sounds, motor skills, and more – in order to accommodate each child’s unique learning style. This also allows for more one-on-one, individualized instruction.

Overall, the class is focused on preparing students for their next educational step: kindergarten. Here, students learn shapes, colors, letters and numbers, and printing and phonics are central to the curriculum. To help with this preparation, two days each month, the children are invited to stay at the school and bring their lunch. This helps ease the transition into kindergarten.
